GWANGHWAMUN GATE
These works are about the relationship between humans and organizations, power and society that people have created. Gwanghwamun in Korea is a place where a group of protesters comes out to appeal their will, speak out, and share their thoughts. When I went there, there were lots of conversations going back and forth at the square. There was a man who visited the place for over 30 years to honor his friends, a group of people protesting a ship sinking accident on April 16th, 2014. There were many who wanted to speak out their thoughts at the square, and I was deeply inspired by their voices. I tried to capture the free expression that I could feel at Gwanghwamun.
